Since 2015, Ines and Corina have been working together, formally establishing their partnership in 2019. Since then, they have continuously honed their craft, refining both their partnership and their dance. Known individually as exceptional dancers, their collaboration has become highly sought after worldwide for their teachings and performances. As maestras, their teaching is rooted in true improvisation and the ability to recognize and develop each dancer’s unique qualities. Rather than focusing on steps, Corina and Ines emphasize high-level technique, musicality, and close embrace. They believing that strong technique leads to greater comfort, deeper interpretation, authentic improvisation, and limitless possibilities for expressing tango.

Inés Muzzopappa is an Argentine tango dancer and instructor. She started her path in tango at age 14. In 2007 she won first place in the World Tango Championship. From that moment on, she started to teach and perform at the most renowned tango festivals and events in Argentina, Europe, Asia, and the U.S. She has participated as a judge in several international tango contests; has studied social pedagogy, English, and Italian to improve her teaching skills; and has organized conferences merging tango and pedagogy.

Nowadays, she teaches and dances tango in Argentina, the U.S., and Europe with different partners, including Corina Herrera.

Inés Muzzopappa

Born in Buenos Aires in 1987, Corina Herrera has been dancing tango for 28 years and teaching for 23 years. At age 9 she fell in love with this dance of firuletes (flashy adornments) and exuberant clothes. It all started out as entertainment. She had a passion for dancing and felt special in that group of adults where she started back on 500 Talcahuano Street. Since her first class, she has never stopped dancing, and it has been a lifetime dedication.

Corina stepped into a milonga for the first time at age 13. She was amazed by the power of connecting body movement with music and the challenge of improvised dance between two people, and her commitment to tango became even stronger. She started to take classes with the most recognized teachers, such as Julio Balmaceda, Corina De La Rosa, Fernando Galera, Vilma Vega, Omar Vega, Pupi Castillo, Milena Plebs, Chicho Frúmboli, Dana Frigoli, and Pablo Villarraza. At the age of 14 she was already the teaching assistant to several of these internationally renowned teachers and began to receive requests for her first private lessons. At age 16, Corina formed a partnership with Rodrigo Palacios and started performing in Buenos Aires. One of the most important was in La Viruta in 2003, which the International Congress of Argentine Tango (CITA) called “La Noche de los Jóvenes.” The same year, they were invited to perform as Outstanding Young Couple at the famous Salon Canning. Later, she partnered with Federico Naveira for performances at La Viruta and Práctica X in Buenos Aires.

By age 22, Corina was touring throughout Europe and around the world. Extraordinarily accomplished in both leader and follower roles, she teaches and performs currently with a few different dancers, most recently Inés Muzzopappa.

Open Role Lab

Corina and Ines are iconic for their ability to dance and teach both roles. For many years, they have investigated how leading and following inform one another, and how partners can continuously evolve through this exchange. In this lab, they will guide us through that ongoing exploration.

This is a space for dual-role dancers to intentionally develop skills in both leading and following, allowing each role to inform and strengthen the other. We’ll deepen listening, refine technique, and cultivate clarity while discovering your distinct voice in each role.

This class is cohosted by Norma Leal & Kim Dai.
If you dance both roles and would like to participate in this lab, please email kimdaitango@gmail.com or normaleal.730@gmail.com to sign up.
